If blocks of metal with the right specs can be found, how hard would it be to use cnc equipment to mill out a block and other parts? I'm sure there's a lot more to it than that otherwise someone would have already done it!!
I guess it would take a while to get it spot on but surely once the correct perameters have been worked out the computer can do the rest...
I saw one of the main bulkheads for the JSF being milled from a 1 ton block of titanium a while back on a doco - amazing!!
