Due to the extreme bad weather, I cancelled my trip to the Pope AFB open house and airshow, when I was already half-way there, since conditions became very risky.

I decided, looking for clearer skies, to head to:

Hamlet, NC

Cheraw, SC

Hamlet, NC:

I went looking for the UH-1B, ?DAV-59? but could not find it.

I went to the Hamlet - Rockingham airport, but there is nothing visible, other than a few civilian a/c.

There was bad weather in the area, with high winds, hail and thunderstorms.

I proceeded to Cheraw, SC:

At the Cheraw Airport, the following:

Jet Provost:

N-204JP XR-701 Jet Provost T.Mk.IV

N-600LT XW-368 Jet Provost T.Mk.VA
?66? 1 FTS

N-399PS Wings of the Morning Jet Provost Team, (Psalm 139:9) civilian color scheme. This aisplane has several rows of ?crosses? like kill-markings, underneath the left side of the cockpit. My guess they represent ?converts? or people who
have accepted Christ.

N-415BD XX-553 Bulldog ?07?
This Bulldog is in RAF markings, has a ?for sale? sign ($36,000)

No Number Folland Gnat FL90759.

Overall aluminum, has engine and escape seat; all the rivets are rusted; wingtips are missing, there are no markings on it, only a hint of bright red paint underneath the rear portion of the fuselage, by the tailpipe.

There is a sticker, with the City of Glasgow, 602nd Sqdn, Royal Auxiliary Air Force coat of arms, on the left, front side of the canopy.

All these aircraft belong to Marty Griggs (843) 622-6237. He was very kind and allowed me to walk at my leisure and shoot as many pictures as I wanted. Also, tried to sell me the Bulldog!!

As per reports, there is also a North American P-51D Mustang based here, owned by a Doctor (Phyisician). It is cared for by Stallion 51 in Florida. I could not obtain a positive ID on this Mustang.

Saludos!

Tulio
