Blake, I really trie to make it to Pope; I even left behind my camera bag and had just a small backpack with the camera and some film, in order to make it through the security checkpoints.
But, South of Asheboro, weather was so bad, that I had to pull over and literally hide under a gas station roof, because hail was really crashing all over, breaking some glass and high winds were battering the area. Trees fell down, and there was a lot of rain and flooding.
I ventured a few miles South-East, but weather became really bad again, so in order to preserve my old but necessary skin, I decided to do a 180 and headed back to Greensboro. Rain hit again, and another change of direction -like scud running but in a car- finally took me to Cheraw.
I hope to be able to catch with you guys and Thunderbird, one of these days.
