Battle of Britain at Home day, Biggin Hill 1971

I'd always been fascinated by aircraft, looking at the family scrapbooks. My father thinks I got it from my Grandfather, who used to cadge rides in Brisol Fighters in Northern Ireland in the early 20's, and cadged rides in Air Force aircraft for a good while afterwards, we still have a great many pictures he took, of wonderful aircraft all over the empire. He owned a BA Swallow, and we have photos of the "Dawn Patrol" departing Brooklands, and Corby (I think) in one case. That passed itself on, to my Father and my Uncle Peter, whose daughters are both pilots, and to me and my Sisters, who all love flying. Is there an aviation gene?

I remember the first time , I saw a Spitfire, belting down the crowd line at Biggin, and it started right there. Affter the show, my father bought me a "Dinky Toys" Spitfire, which was merchandised I remember, as a BOB film aircraft. Wish I'd kept it!

So thats what got me started....... any others?
