I can't put it down to any single event or experience. Though the most influencial factor must have been the film 'Battle of Britain'. My dad brought me the Dinky Spitfire and 109 (I still have them). I then distantly remember going to my first airshow at about 10 years old. This was when Hawkers factory in Kingston still existed. Some of my dad's friends worked there so we got free entry (dad didn't have too much spare cash with us kids to feed and cloth). I sat in the seat of an old Hunter and just played around. My dad had trouble getting me out so the other kids could have a go. Its just snow balled from there. Now I'm into r/c planes & helis, visit the airshows in the UK (favourite has to be Flying Legends), collect Corgi Aviation models, fly PC sims etc etc. My wife said the other night 'You only like things that have wings on'. I think she's feeling left out at the moment. For Christmas I'll buy her a hat with some wings on the side just to prove I still love her!
My favourite aircraft has to be the Lanc. Why? my uncle piloted one in WW2.
