It has to be my first visit to Conningsby, age 3.I saw the Lancaster and that was it; I didn't notice the Spitfires or the Hurricanes 'til on the way out.
The Lanc says it all for me, the crackle of the Merlins when they're throttled back for landing, the way it just eases through any manuoevre, and the low passes over Derwent Dam.
The way it sends a shiver down your neck when you watch Just Jane taxi at night,....just can't be equallled.
