Restoration standard worldwide

Hi all,
Given the many restoration projects going on all over the world I was wondering if the standard of restoration is comparable or is every restorer trying to reinvent the wheel.
For instance (obvious choice) how can a restoration of a Spitfire or Mustang in Britain be compared to a similar restoration in the US?
Reason for this question is that Airframe Assemblies has found a niche market in providing parts etc to restorers and have made a name for themselves in delivering good quality products, but most restorers do things in house.
Or am I wrong?
Cees
