Thanks for the reply Dan, your point is well taken.

I made the point of taking my kids to the local Battle of Britain ceremony last weekend so that they could see the event, understand it at least a little, and see a Spitfire in the flypast. Every LEGO monoplane they build is a Spitfire. They love my airplane screensaver collections, and we go to the "airplane museum" as they call it, quite regularly. They are certainly being exposed to warbirds, and soon, the eldest, at 6, will be ready to head to the war museum. I figure they shouldn't go there too young, or everything is just "cool", with no meaning. He'll also be ready soon to start building models. That's what sparked my interest in history and warbirds, and hopefully it will work for my kids too.

My concern is more one of time. With two working parents, family life and other volunteer commitments, the problem is simply finding time to become engaged in such volunteer work, even if the local museum welcomed my kids in the restoration hangers.
