Mike - It very much depends on the impact of what the blades hit !. The crankshaft can have a run out check which will determine if it's suffered a twist along it's longditudinal axis but I feel in the case of the Lancaster that the engine was shut down very quickly and that she suffered minimal damage. The reduction gear will also show
damage if she has been hit hard. Regards the engine bearers - it's a case of dimensionally checking them and x-ray or other ndt technique to see if they are cracked.
