The late great terribly missed Mickster and I narrowed the site right down. Mick spoke to a German friend he made on the net,who gave him lots of airfield maps in the Berlin area. We then put put a supposition together, based on how high German power lines are,and how fast you'd be going, with the Germans throwing everything but their boots at you I got the maps out , made some calls, sent some e-mail, hey presto it's in a relatively shallow lake, what remains of it anyway, bearing in mind it hit at about 120 mph.

However, any recovery is conditional on permission from the relevant head sheds in Germany :( At the moment, the man who makes that decision, has me over a bit of a barrel, re. something he'd like in Germany. The deal is very much "You get me this, and you can lift as many Mustangs and anything else, as long as it's not German that you want"

So, lots of hard work been happening behind the scenes, but still no closer to a conclusion.

Mind you, plenty of other wrecks in the Berlin area, including a large chunk of Lancaster (very large)
