Sorry if this brackets me as a "naysayer" or pessimist, but bearing in mind the global political climate at the time of this alleged incident, I should think that the crew of a US airliner having to divert to an airfield in what was then Soviet Union would have had other worries on their mind than finding a way to kill time while waiting to be able to fly out of there again, and that the likelihood of them being let loose in hangars on that airfield would have been rather slim....!
