: Regarding conrods, an automotive V-engine has two "blade"
: conrods which means that the opposing cylinders are slight
: ly staggered.
: A "blade" and a "fork" (as in feeding tool) give exactly o
: pposing cylinders. The "fork" is clamped to the crankshaft
: and the "blade" is clamped to the center of the "fork", b
: etween the two pins of the "fork". (Am I clear as mud now?
: )
: Another advantage is that loads on the crankpin is always
: centralized.
: Regarding the firing order, I have no facts but I shouldn?
: t think so. Designers are always experimenting with firing
: orders to acchieve smoothness. If I find something out I?
: ll get back on that one!

At the risk of stating the obvious, blade and fork conrods will allow a shorter (length) cylinder bank.
