The cylinder banks are the same length no matter what conrod design but the total length of the engine is shorter by the width of the plain conrod at the big end. This is due to the banks not being staggered and the difference is approximately 50 millimeters.

A supplementary note to Paul M, there is no difference between the "plain" and the "fork" in terms of dimension and strength other than at the big end.
