I could think of several places I'd like to be:
- Le Bourget airfield, the night of May 21, 1927
- The sands of Kill Devil Hills, NC on Dec. 17, 1903
- In an Allied aircraft over the Normandy coast, June 6, 1944
- Anywhere the original Graf Zeppelin (LZ-127) visited
- The filming of the movie "Dive Bomber" (late 1940/early 1941)
- Maiden voyage of the SS Normandie (1935)
- Maiden flight of the Bf109V1 (May 1935)
- Any chance to see Nuvolari drive an Auto Union vs. Stuck in a Mercedes
- In the stands near Cape Kennedy on July 16, 1969
Well, that pretty much blows the "one event" qualification... but if I had to narrow it down, I think seeing Lindbergh land in Paris would be the ultimate, because that was an event which everyone IMMEDIATELY knew changed the world forever, instead of an isolated event that rippled outward (such as the Wright Brothers flight).
Sorry for droning on...
