Hi Elliott,

I am aware of Nordhausen and the V1 and V2 remains, having seen the photographs is an issue of After The Battle Magazine, as well as an documentary on German television some years ago.

I agree that the sites in Asia are better left for our Aussie friends to investigate. I was more thinking nearer to home, Europe and in particular Germany and surrounding countries. There was this story about an abandoned FW-190 which was found beneath a hangar which apparently had been blown up by the Russians in the sixties, after children using it as a plaything got hurt.

You never know what might emerge from these countries but fact is that during 1944 and the rest of 1945 aircraft and components were produced in the most unlikely of places. Me262's and Daimler Benz engines in old mine-shafts, in heavily wooded areas, you name them. I have seen photographs from excavated dumping grounds in Germany (especially the former eastern Germany) where complete FW-190 canopies (plural) and all sorts of components were found. However, these are now being offered at rediculous prices to collectors unfortunately.

Cees
