That helps a great deal. That color photograph has always been one of my favorites, and though the worn and filletless 51 represented there will never be duplicated, its great that the memory lives on in some way. For those who wonder what happened to her, as most Mustangs did, Ferocious Frankie died in action returning from escort mission over France. She crashed landing at Little Walden 9 November 1944, Captain Richard Durbin being killed in the crash. The most interesting Mustangs are in my mind the ones in the range 44-13253- 44-15000, the truly early D's that had so few survivors by wars end.
