This was from the old WW site!
"I'm curious as to whether anyone has ever gone looking for Allan Bunte's 4th FG P51B that he had to ditch in a lake just south of Potsdam, Germany after hitting powerlines and starting on fire. This was in March of 44 on the same day Duane Beeson also went down to flak. As Bunte was able to escape the cockpit and get to the surface I would imagine the plane was semi-intact. I've often wondered if that Mustang is still sitting on the bottom of that lake waiting for someone to come along and pull it out. I would think an original 4th FG combat 51B would be quite the prize should it still be there.
The MACR doesn't give a specific location but I imagine it wouldn't be too hard to narrow down the spot. "
