I would just like to add that the P63 a redesigned p39 were shunned by a good deal of pilots for it's horrible spin charicteristics as well as elaborate recovery procedures back when it was introduced. With the engine behind the pilot and the center of gravity offset from the normal designs of the time a spin could last for 4 to 5 turns(or longer if recovery techniques weren't employed at onset).
The reports concern over the pilots use of right rudder while inverted at considerably low altittude and low airspeed could be related to the maneuver causing departed flight in this specific flight model. It's not a pilots fault with minimal time in the aircraft and a crowd to perform for, many of the wwii aircraft had odd flight charicteristics that would only present themselves in certain situations but none were perhaps as bad as this aircrafts.
