Lynn- It's really a matter of reading the text of the report. The 'recommended' entry speed at 250 knots - now is that from the U.S.A.A.F handbook for the type or from Bell itself ? What I am saying here is that because you enter a manouver below the recommended speed doesn't necessarily mean you will not be able to carry it out.
It that data from a machine that's fully fueled? Carrying armour / weapons and ammunition?
You just cannot say that every aircraft is identical to the machine tested for the handbook.
The fact is that the pilot died and whatever you think about the way he flew it there is a way of saying things tactfully and similarily you cannot comment on the pilot's state of mind or indeed on the posibility of distraction because he cannot stand up for himself.
