That's because we believe in the beauty of preservation Cees :0)

Well, from what the boat building mate says, it is possible, to build the whole thing, and use parts of original airframes. The most complex part, would be the fuselage, but that's why the drawings are needed. The A/c can sit on it's own undercarriage, with engines installed, it's just down to what weight the legs and firewall will support (I think). It is relatively simple, to outfit the cockpit in a suitable fashion, and externally, from a distance, it would appear indistinguishable from the real thing.

as more parts are found, they can be incorporated into the replica, until we get to the stage, where it is more Whirlwind than replica. I appreciate, this may seem an odd way to do it, but I just don't like a collection of razor=blade raw material, sitting in a pile somewhere, as opposed to taking the form of an airframe, and this way at least, we do get to see a Whirlwind. As previously stated, I am very very serious, but I do need the drawings, as I don't think, that up-scaling RL Ward's superb cutaways are going todo the job, so, if anyone knows of any whirlwind bits, or former Westalnds bods that worked on this aircraft, I'd love to talk to them.

Cees, I presume the Whirlwind you're talking about, is the one that ended up in the NordZee Canal, only to be raised and scrapped in the late sixties?

: Sounds like all my posts start with the above sentence. I
: don't mind though.
:
: Of course any bits are very important to such a project. I
: f there are that many Whirlwindss known to have crashed I
: wonder why nothing has been recovered yet.
:
: Apart from the Whirlwind which crashed near Beverwijk and
: was recovered during the early sixites, I do not know of a
: ny other crash site in Holland (from memory that is) but p
: erhaps Mick has some leads.
:
: Perhaps the same approach as used by the Defiant reconstru
: ction is possible. But again drawings are of the utmost im
: portance.
:
: Would be a nice WIX-project to put a Whirlwind together.
:
: Just my views of course
