Hello Cees,
Excellent posting.
I was thinking about this a wee while ago when all the Korean findings were being talked about.
Scott's excellent forum has brought to light a lot of possible recoveries but I have seen little in the way of effort to 'bring um back alive'.
I have a feeling that Tony and a couple of others are up to some recovering but other than them I see little in the way of progress.
One possible problem is 'expense' bringing aircraft out of the 'arm pits of the world' copst money and most of us on this forum are just hobbiest's in this field we do not have the money to operate an aircraft, let alone go to the ends of the earth to pull one out of a lake or forest or off the sea bed, it costs money.
I did have an idea that had a connection to the 'our warbird' group, this was to set up a small partnership to go out and recover a few warbirds or aircraft of 'worth while' few of us have the money to go it alone, but maybe as a group we stand a better chance, we know where there are 'finds' we just need the people and the moeny to start the ball rolling, oh well, I maybe dreaming again.
Again, great posting Cees!!!
Kind regards,
Will
: Hi all,
:
: I am wondering about the results of the discussions on thi
: s forum.
:
: Since the forum was conceived there have been several "new
: " aircraft located, others identified or more information
: about the history of a certain warbird revealed. Apart fro
: m that there are many possible locations where warbirds co
: uld be recovered as wrecks or even intact airframes.
:
: What will be done with this knowledge other than that the
: regulars save the many topics in their own personal files.
:
: Should there be some sort of central database/archive on t
: his forum that contains information about the "finds" etc.
: ?
:
: And what about any actions to have these aicraft recovered
: ? I mean it is very exciting to discuss a certain location
: where a wreck could be, but what about any follow-up acti
: ons? There are a lot of sites that I personally would like
: to see recovered. I am also aware that the chances are th
: at someone else not involved on this forum (lurkers?) will
: have a go at some location that has been discussed on thi
: s forum.
:
: Has anyone ever considered these things as well?
:
: What are your views
