.........that most of us have the same general opinion. The reason for this topic is that I have wondered for years about the wealth of information available regarding interesting sites (and even some of the reactions on my original topic actually proved this by mentioning sites I hadn't heard of before), but nobody actually seemed to have a look, I know about the time-limit, so much to do and so little time but I think that this forum really can be of serious use here.
I mean that if a certain location where an aircraft/wreck/remains/whatever are to be found is discussed, then some of us who is near that site (geographically speaking) could try to find out if there is any truth in the rumour and make it a fact or scratch another fairy tale.
For instance: when the Typhoon crash near Culemborg was discussed some months ago, I went out to inform if there were indeed remains to be found, and while the aircraft was recovered long ago, the story was investigated and finished.
This way a lot of rumours can be eliminated and more discoveries will come to light.
In my opinion this board has an excellent potential and it will be only a matter of time before the aviation magazines start referring to aircraft finds by the WIX.
About the database being made openly accessible, I think this is absolutely necessary because also the "lurkers" (no offense intended) are also a very important source of information. For instance, when I asked about the French He-115, I received a scanned photo the next day!
I for one would commit myself to find out anything about possible sites in Holland once they are discussed on this forum. And being curious I am very interested what kind of project The Three Musketeers (Tony, Mick and Tom) are busy with.
Cheers
