NA-73 was the North American engineering model number for the P-51 series.
Also, the cast in number is the part number, not the serial number. Serial numbers are used for items that are specially tracked or significant enough to warrant special attention or inspection, and are in addition to the part number. No two serial numbers would be the same for a given part. A rudder pedal would not be one of these items, but a heat treated forged steel landing gear leg, or an engine crankshaft might. Obviously the airframe and engine each have a serial number, as does the prop.
: I don't know off hand what aircraft a North American model
: 73 is/was. I will try to look this up this evening.
