Yes, its ground handling does seem to be bad by modern standards, and wise people appear to have made the decision to operate them off grass. But wasn't the 109 the highest production fighter of all time? If its grd handling had been so awful *by the standards of the day*, then surely some attempt at u/c redesign would have been made? Or did the Germans just have so many of them that a high attrition rate was acceptable ?! ;-)
