A Corsair Legend- anybody ever hear this one before?

I forget where and when I heard this story and I have no idea whether it's fact or fiction, but I was wondering if anyone here had ever heard it. It goes like this:

Some years ago, like late sixties/early seventies, a wealthy Texas oilman had a wife that he wanted to get rid of. She fancied herself something of a pilot so for her birthday one year he bought her a surplus F4U Corsair and had it completely overhauled - engine, prop, new radios, painted an overall fire truck red, etc, etc, and on his wife's birthday presented her with it, big bow tied around the cowling and all. No expenses spared.

She of course probably jumped him on the spot (wouldn't you?) and was just thrilled with her new toy, but then he put on THE ACT. "Well Sweetheart, this is alot of airplane, and if you want to fly it we'll need to have some kind of protection, just in case...(etc, etc)". Long story short - the airplane was HEAVILY insured, and she was HEAVILY insured, and after signing all the forms that he had conveniently had drawn up already, she jumped in the Hog, lit 'er up, and never got a hundred feet in the air before the monster rolled over on her back, dove into the ground and blew up.

The now even wealthier oilman walked away clean.

Anybody ever heard that one before?
