I got the following answer from a friend workins as a volounteer at the Museo del Aire, Madrid when I enquired two weeks ago;

"About the Heinkel 111...absolutely no news. I knew that some people from the Museum and the Spanish Air Force has been looking for it in Southern Spain, in spite of that the story sounds very strange from the very beginning. Maybe there is a confussion with the last Heinkel sold to USA, recovered (I think) from Leon AB or a scrapyard close to."

So it seems like not even the Spanish Air Force Museum knows anything about it.
