The recovery of substantial chunks of Whitley bits realy seems to be gathering pace now and it really looks like one day they may be able to get one stood on its feet.
I remember some while ago the RAF museum released its pile of bits to a museum in the Midlands I think. These consisted of some very substantial items as I recall. The components were at least one very substantial wing and a big chunk of real fuselage I think. Surely for such a good cause these parts could be sprung ?
Secondly, on the subject of big wrecks I have often read about the Mickle Fell Stirling wreck which is now held in store by the RAF museum. I have read in many publications that this was one of the most complete wrecks in the UK. I know there was nothing near a complete airframe but it would be interesting to see what sort of state the wreck is in. Does anyone have any information or even pictures of the state of the wreckage.
