Hi Karen,
I'm currently working on a website project that documents Florida's aviation history all throughout World War II. I've accumulated quite a bit of data from various sources, and would be willing to forward some along.
Most of the info I've collected so far is in regards to the Navy bases, but I do have some Army Airfield info as well.
A LOT of aircraft were lost in Florida due to training accidents.
Drop me an email when you have a chance, and I'll see what I can put together for you.

: Hi All,
:
: My son has been given an assignment at school. He had
: to choose a State, and show what if any significance this
: state had during WWII. For obvious reasons, Johnny chose F
: lorida. His teacher excluded him from writing solely about
: Dean, and Bartow, so this is what he decided to do.
:
: He wants to draw a map of Florida, and put as many A
: rmy Airfied Bases, as we can find on it. He also wants to
: put planes that crashed on it. He wants to draw a bubble f
: rom each plane with as much info as he can get, (i.e., typ
: e of plane, when it crashed, what happened to the pilot, w
: hat happened to the plane, etc..) Also, if possible, the f
: ate of the AAF base.
:
: We have Leesburg, and Bartow, and we know they were tu
: rned into airports. We also, naturally, have Lake Louisa,
: and Dean's plane, but we don't have much else yet.
:
: He has been given two weeks to complete this. Any help w
: ill be very greatly appreciated! Thank you for taking the
: time to read this, and for any help you may be able to off
: er!
:
: Best Wishes,
: Karen
: BTW, I have been printing out some of your posts for John
: ny to read. I think he is beginning to understand them bet
: ter than I do, sometimes!
