Universal Studios

In 1999 I went to Universal studios in Florida a nd saw what was apparently the remains of a P-51, a P-38, and a P-40 built into a couple of Mad Max style vehicles on display. I figured they were mock-ups but in the process of doing the registry I realized that quite a few aircraft were butchered by the studios in the 50's and 60's. Could these be real? Does anybody know? I have some pictures that I will scan in this weekend. I'm just curious. My father works there and he says they have moved them off display in preparation of a new exhibit. If they are real, it would be probably be worth looking into even just for parts. My father is trying to dig up info but I thought I'd ask in case someone knew.
