Where did Spielberg get a flakvierling and an 88 from?

My father is blown away by the series, and we're gettting him the box set for his birthday, and he doesn't know it yet, a trip to Arnhem..

He was there on Market Garden in Irish Guards Armoured, and says the house to house fighting sequences in Holland, were the most accurate he'd ever seen portrayed, and I guess he'd know
