Look out for Bob Ogden's excellent museum guides - he has done at least four covering the USA, as well as others world wide - possibly a bit out of date, but very, very useful! The one scovering the Western States was well thumbed when I was there! I think I picked it up from the Hiller Museum at San Mateo and I got the one covering the South Eastern States from Amazon.
