Geography Question...

Please can someone tell me...

Are the Great Bitter Lakes in Egypt which are used as part of the Suez canal - fresh or salt water?? - I am assuming salt water.....

I have just found out about the 6 RAF bases that bordered this.. (Shandur, Kabrit, Kasfareet, Fanara, Fayid (Thunderbolt training!) and Deversoir)

Same question for Lake Timsah.... this was also an RAF base.
