I'm not much for one for the shows over sea's, as I have not had the chance to attend one just yet. I have been going to airshows for a long time, and not till the start of of the Corsair Gathering "2 Years in the making" did I get alot of info and learning. The start of running a tour started with Ray Dieckman Corsair and talking to shows around the area, and making deals with them for warbirds. This all turned out great and with the Corsair Gathering gave me alot more learning, and meeting and making new friends and business deals. The POF Fighter Tour was the idea of Ray and Steve and they approached me to run the Tour for them. This all turned out great, people got to see fighters they had never seen before and also the Air Museum benifited from the contracts that where made and the airshows got top of the line warbirds for their shows. The Air Museum used the money made by the fighters for the new hangar that is being built at Chino, and hopefull in the years to come we will be able to bring different fighters out to the east coast to display for the public and generate more funds for the Air Museum Planes of Fame. As for Airshows not having money that is wrong, they get sponsors and generate money every year from the show before to keep things going, plus provide funds for their projects they have going. I do not think any of the warbird owners could bring their fighters or bombers in for just fuel, hotel, and maybe Bar-b-que. I know it takes alot of money for fuel, oil, Insurance, wear and tear, etc. etc. The POF Fighter Tour also had alot of Volunteer's to make the whole thing happen, Pilots, Ground Crews, and personal time spent away from home on weekends. Maybe one of these days when I have some contacts over-sea's you may see us over there. Until then I will wait to go to Duxford one year and have Ray, Steve, Art, and others from the Air museum show us the area, and enjoy a show or two.
