Dear Cees:

You may not have too much of a problem of getting this out of Canada. If the owner holds the title of the aircraft then I cannot see any goverment intervention - than again you never know. I have a for Heritage Canada, the Federal Govt agency responsible for overseeing and granting exports permits. In some cases they will hold the item for one year until a Canadian Museum can gather the funds to buy it. But in this case, I dont think this is applicable.

If in the case of finding a wreck today and then exporting it out of the county - then I can see the problem. The Govt won't let individuals do that as I am told by the Provincial Govt. I am looking into a crash site in Quebec and I am trying to surf through the paper chase of getting permits just to dive on the wreckage - who knows what is needed to actually recover these days. A few bad apples over the years have simply ruined it to the others that do it correctly and with respect. Gary L, who pulled a few P-39s, and a B-17 out of Northern BC & Yukon ran into some trouble when he tried to sneek them across the border in BC/Washington.

Hit this link and it might be of some help:

Drop them an email and see if they can help. Might take a few days, weeks, months,

I have some WORD docs that I will email to you concerning stuff like this. I found this on the DND website some years ago. I will also ask if anyone here at work can offer any advice on the permit side of things.
