I think that this may be Hamilton-Standard (propeller) Service Bulletin #486 rather than an aircraft number.

What aircraft in US Navy service during that period used 3 bladed Hamilton Standard propellers?

My guess is the C-121...

Some of the 649's had Ham Standards, and some had Curtiss-Wright props, but I'm not sure about the 1049's.

Note that the DC-7C also likely used these same engines and props: http://www.stinsonflyer.com/avphoto/dc7c-3.jpg

I think that the USN used the DC-7C. I forget the military designation, but remember seeing them as a kid at Glenview Naval Air Station, Illinois (now a housing development) along with the Connies.

If you are seriously interested, look at the FAA website for the Type Certificate Data Sheet for an L-649 or L-1049. That should tell you what propeller (and probably what spinner) the aircraft was certified with in commercial service. Either way, I don't think the spinner has much value (who would need it?). Maybe $100-200. You also need the backing plate that mounts to the prop to have a complete unit.
