If they have gone through all the trouble to acquire it and then only restore half of it why bother getting it in the first place.
IMHO it is just a stupid excuse not to do the work properly. There aren't that many Hampdens around, and if you see a half restored Hampden on display you just get the feeling something hasn't been done as it should have. Apart from that the aircraft would look very odd.
After the Halifax another strange policy on behalf of the RAFM. Or is it just another victim of the "Lancaster syndrome" (or was HP that unpopular with the Air Ministry during the war)?
It is about time that things are being put right there and that they stop going on with silly excuses not to restore very important aircraft in the condition they should.
