Hi Rob,

Your post has been pointed out to me by a friend in the UK. I am currently researching the history of this aeroplane (WG871) and the pilot. Both disappeared during the evening of 17 March, 1952. The story is turning out to be very interesting.

Can you tell me please which board you saw the original post on? I am not aware of any plans to visit this site. The site was investigated just after its discovery on 1 March 1957, almost 5 years after the accident. Although searches of the area were carried out at that time, no trace of the pilot was ever found. I would be interested in talking to anyone planning to visit the area.

My research is still ongoing presently and I hope to be able to visit the crash site in the next couple of months. This entails a 2 day journey upriver to reach the area as it is very remote and is inside a newly established National Park here in Malaysia.

Regards,

Laurie.
