No question, that's why Nomex (TM) exists!

In testing however, I think that you will find that Nomex (TM) performs only slightly better than cotton or wool, and marginally better than treated cotton or wool.

Unless you had a suit made of 1/2 Nomex (TM) and 1/2 cotton or wool though, any real comparison in practice wouldn't be of much value since fires vary so widely in duration and intensity from one crash to another. Maybe it would make the difference between a first and second degree burn on your arm (a definate incentive in my opinion to wear one!), or maybe it would make no difference at all.

Absolutely, but how would you feel if the pilot of the next A320 you flew in was wearing a crash helmet, a parachute, and a Nomex (TM) flight suit? :-)
