During the early 90s the Spence's, who own North America's only airworthy Swordfish, held an airshow at thier private airstrip. I was able to attend the last two years of the event and witness the spectacular arrival of Contract Air Cargo's C-54. With the Sepnce's house at one end of the short runway it was always a treat to see the C-54 land and take-off.
I have dedicated a page of photos on my website to the C-54 at Muirkirk. I know some of you were there so it will bring back memories and for those that were not you missed a good one.
Happy Landings,
Eric
BTW The Spences still own and operate the Swordfish but have attend few shows over the past couple of years. Most shows in the area show little interest in the aircraft or can't afford the price. Pete Spence who is one of the pilots flies in the Canadian Harvards a three plane Harvard aerobatic demo that is part of the Canadian Harvard Aircraft Association and that takes up a lot of his time.
