: The Corsair that Bob Bean died in was F4U-4, BuNo. 97302,
: N68HP that used to be owned by Howard Pardue.
:
: This is taken from Air Classics, Aug 93. " This was one o
: f numerous Corsairs owned by the late Bob Bean. Howard ha
: d purchased the non-flyable aircraft from Bean and contrac
: ted with Bean to rebuild the plane back to flying shape.
: Bean, a man of rather unorthodox religious views, died ins
: ide the fuselage of the fighter during the rebuild. He ha
: d always claimed that the devil was hiding somewhere insid
: e this particular Corsair and perhaps the devil finally fo
: und him."

Wow...sounds like a setup for a TV-movie. (And truth told, given the, er, "luck" Mr Pardue had with that F4U, maybe Mr Bean was right. Bob Bean, that is...not Rowan Atkinson.) :-)
