I agree with both of the previous posts. As someone who has never spent the last few seconds of their life in shear terror knowing you are about to die, it may seem a little dreamy to think about leaving earth in something cool like a P-51 or Corsair rather than fading away in a nursing home in some forgotten town. I bet the ones that have left us flying these great machines (post WW2 in private ownership) wish they had to do it over again and maybe not shown off so much or fly outside the aircrafts performance envelope. As for me, I will persue my dream of flying one of these fighters and take my chances with the risk of physical danger and death if given the opportunity to do so.
We may have a different point of view about this when we all get together and talk at the big airshow in the sky.
