Here is the ultimate question for those who are against tragic airframes flying again.
Would you suggest that Charlie Hilliard's Sea Fury be scrapped after he was killed in it even though the airframe was 100% COMPLETE? Or how about the Corsair that Bob Bean died in? The man wasn't flying in it, he simply died in the cockpit while working on it. I know that is splitting hairs but still. What is the difference?
Oh and I was most unfortunate in witnessing a crash this year and it still bothers me quite a bit. It was pilot error and because of that I'm still slightly afraid to jump in an airplane for fear that I will do something stupid too. However, even though I watched quite a bit of the last day of this man's life, I still would not want the airframe to be ripped apart of closed away in a dark hole for the rest of its life. There were some large and valuable pieces left that someone can use and I feel like Mr. Johnson would have wanted it used again due to the fact that he absolutely loved what he was getting to do.
