Hi Tulio,
The arrogant butthole remark was kinda tongue in cheek, but I have seen people act like pinheads while trying to get into some of the places mentioned, and my first thought then has been; "great, this guy will cost us all the possibility to have a closer look at this facility in the future!!!". As for skin color, I have never had the problem you mention. But then again I'm a genuine, grade A, Norwegian "honkey", and will most likely never encounter that. So I will never fully appreciate what you're up against! Which means that I'm lucky s.o.b. in several respects! What you talk about constitutes racism, no matter if it involves planes, trains, or automobiles. Or even stamps for that matter!!!
On the other side, you can bet on the fact that eventually you WILL meet up with a shop manager, or warbird owner who is a total p****k! That is the nature of mankind! What I feel is that we must be on our best behaviour, and hope they will accept us. In the end, we are at their mercy, and not vice versa. But as I said, the majority of people I've met have been just great to deal with. For an example; while visiting Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, I was rapidly running out of funds, so Don Whittington told me to spend the night in World Jet's pilot lounge which bought me an extra day down there! And trust me, I'm nobody in the warbird world!!!
