My personal favorites thus far:
PBY-5 airframe in the back of a barn in Geneseo, was going to be converted to a boat at some point.
six P-40N canopies found in Cheektowaga, NY being used by a former Curtiss-Wright employee that had them for 40 years as mini-greenhouses for starting tomato plants.
My favorite was not mine...
Back in the early 80's, Bob Collings went and visited a guy in Northern CA that had two P-38s disassembled in an old chicken coop in the back yard. Wouldn't sell them... but they eventually became the Erickson P-38's
