Hello All,
As to whether or not a newbuild Spit is really a Spitfire or not, my 2 cents worth.
If two people sixty years apart follow the same recipe and use the same ingredients, have they not both baked an apple pie?
Granted, one will have a history behind it (I don't believe I've ever seen a 60 year-old pie :) but they are both apple pies, nonetheless.
If you can interchange parts between old aircraft and new, then they both share the same "DNA" and they belong to the same family.
Such is my simplified view on this matter.
