I don't think anyone in the aircraft restoration movement wants to see things go the way the classic car "evaluations" have gone. Frankly, I don't think very many owner/operators/restorers of these airplanes care about the classifications that enthusiasts may put on their airplane. I know I don't.
I am satisifed with classing aircraft such as the new build Mustangs (such as the B/C models) and the Flugwerke 190s as replicas. If you replace ever rivet and piece of sheet metal in your Mustang, it is still authentic to me.
