I think none of us will ever know who instigated this export (and others that recently happened). I certainly do not want either to raise again the issue : "should we leave them there or should we bring them back leagally and/or by any other mean". There are maybe 200 contributors to this borad alone and i'm pretty sure each of us will have a different opinion.

But the fact is aircrafts left PNG not exactly as it should have happened and apparently ended up in his collection.

PNG and Irian Jaya are definitely "wild places" but we have to stop thinking they are just a bunch of alcoholic middle aged cannibals. Many over there are interested in preserving their past and do their best to do so.

Woudln't a much better scenario be : negociate with PNG authorities and in return for the legal export of historic airframes, built a nice roof to protect what they already have recovered and restore for them what they have in their collection and/or future recoveries. "Black money" will have to be paid along the way. And then !! It happens everywhere, every day for every business.

Laurent I have a collection of excellent 8x10 color photos of that recovery. If there's any interest, I'll try to get them scanned this weekend and posted to the web.
