: Hopefully I can get this part right!!
:
: This TBM was originally registered as N7410C when it was o
: wned by John Stokes. When Howard Pardue bought it, the re
: gistration was changed to NL88HP. The "L" is because of b
: eing in the limited category and the "HP" is for Howard Pa
: rdue. I don't know how many owners the airplane went thro
: ugh between Howard and the current owner but it seems at s
: ome point that the L was dropped. That must be due to a c
: hange in regulations. Now I am assuming the Mr. Duffy wan
: ted to personalize the registration number by changing it
: to NL88TD. But, that number was assigned to a Taylorcraft
: in Michigan in 1986. So, in order to have a number with
: his initials in it; Mr. Duffy just added a 1 to the number
: he wanted. That would explain how it went from NL88HP to
: NL188TD. Exactly what year this happened, I don't really
: know. But it must have been around the 99-2000 time fram
: e.
Good job, Brad. The "1" was added on Jan 20, 1999. Eric, I used the US Civil Register to check this at http://162.58.35.241/acdatabase
The 4th edition 2003 of Geoff Goodall's Warbirds Directory lists it as N188TD. It's still registered in the "Limited" category so officially it's NL188TD
