The AAHS Journal referred to in later postings, Vol 25, Number 2 Summer 1980, does indeed have a great story on the C-74s.
The one in question, N8199H serial 42-65408 was owned by a company in Cleveland, named, Akron Dynamics. They turned out to be a "front" company for buying aircraft for Cuba, "read that as" Fidel Castro. It saays there were eleven C-74's involved. The deal was stopped and 8199H went on to Pamama as HP-367.
