I seem to remember reading a detailed article about the civilian use of the Douglas C-74. It was either in Propliner magazine or the American Aviation Historical Society (AAHS) Journal. A web search shows an article "Globemaster (The Douglas C-74)" by Nicholas M. Williams that appeared in the Summer 1980 (Vol. 25 No. 2) issue of the AAHS Journal. I do not have this issue, but I can probably get a copy of this article in two or three weeks if you would be interested. Let me know. Hope this helps.
